Meet the Speakers: SHP Voices at Upcoming Events

At SHP, we’re proud to be home to an incredible team of architects, designers, engineers, and thought leaders who are shaping the future of the built environment every day. Their collective skills and passion are the driving force behind our work; even better, our experts are sharing their hard-earned expertise with others in the industry and making a real impact well beyond our own walls.

2025 might be coming to a close, but that doesn’t mean our experts are slowing down. In fact, SHP voices will be featured at several conferences and events in the coming weeks, covering topics from innovative design strategies in schools to insights about the evolving needs of tomorrow’s workforce.

Our experts are thrilled to exchange ideas, spark conversation (and some spirited debate), and, most importantly, help move our industry forward. Discover where we’ll be speaking next—and meet the SHP professionals who are helping shape the future!

Josh Predovich, AIA, ALEP, LEED AP

With nearly 25 years of experience at SHP alone, Josh has played a fundamental role in over $400M in educational spaces ranging from PK-12 to higher education. An Accredited Learning Environments Planner, Josh approaches educational master planning with a client-first approach and a thorough attention to detail; in his role as Director of Master Planning, he is responsible for cultivating client relationships and guiding the development of educational visions. However, what truly fuels his passion is the profound, lasting impact his work has on the lives of students and educators. He has worked on multiple projects that have received design excellence awards from Learning by Design, School Planning and Management, American School and University, the Columbus Dispatch and Columbus Business First.

Kinsey Kaufman, NCIDQ

As a senior interior designer, Kinsey believes that everyone deserves a space where they can grow and be known, and she works to make that dream a reality for the people in her community. Kinsey joined the SHP team in 2017, and since then, she has developed a reputation as a determined and focused problem solver; she’s played a key role in the design of many unique educational facilities, from K-12 schools to career and technical centers. With a keen eye for planning functional and flexible spaces, Kinsey excels at facilitating the client’s vision through her work. In addition to being NCIDQ-certified, Kinsey is a member of the International Interior Design Association.

Hear from Josh and Kinsey on November 5th at EDspaces in Columbus, where they’ll be presenting with Karie McCrate from Dover City Schools on “Community to Curriculum to Construction: A Holistic Approach to School Planning.”

Charlie Jahnigen, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP

Charlie’s expertise has been hard-earned and well-deserved–since joining SHP in 2000, he has led the planning and design of more than $1.5 billion in educational projects across the country. As executive vice president of the firm, he is instrumental in guiding our school district clients throughout the design and construction process, helping to identify and analyze critical project decisions from start to finish. Additionally, Charlie is a member of the University of Cincinnati College of Engineering Industrial Advisory Board and serves as the appeals chairman for the City of Wyoming Board of Zoning. He is also passionate about mentorship; he has shown himself to be an optimistic leader who strives to propel young architects and designers closer to their desired professional roles.

Fil Anastasio

As Director of Client Analytics, Fil Anastasio leads SHP’s campaign assistance services, engages communities in master plan development, and brings new tools and skill sets into the firm. With more than 25 years of SHP experience under his belt, he has worked with a variety of clients on community engagement, leveraging data-informed strategy to build consensus and help clients best prioritize their time and resources. He has also developed a myriad of iPhone apps and numerous other applications–in fact, he helped SHP become the first architecture firm in the country to have an iPhone app, which received a CDA design award in 2013.

Charlie and Fil will be presenting at the OSBA Capital Conference on November 17th with Greg Sears from Kings Local School District–be sure to catch the presentation “Communicating Needs: Transparency & Community Support for Future Learning,” which will cover the importance of strategic transparency and engagement in building community trust.

Dan Leffingwell

Dan has only been with SHP since 2024, but he’s already made an incredible impact. It’s no wonder why: Dan’s professional experience is deeply rooted in education, with roles ranging from teacher to coach to superintendent, and his expertise has been invaluable to our team. Throughout his 35+ year career, Dan has demonstrated a commitment to innovation, collaboration, and excellence in education, earning him recognition as the Ohio State Superintendent of the Year in 2022. Through his role with the Appalachian STEM Collaborative, Dan has been an influential voice in the culture surrounding STEM initiatives across the region. With a passion for empowering communities, Dan Leffingwell helps SHP clients by advising on future-focused trends in education and connecting innovative, forward-thinking curricula with appropriately designed educational facilities.

Dan will be leading a fascinating panel discussion at the OSBA Capital Conference next month between Doug Hale (Superintendent, Chesapeake Union EVSD), Brent Ripley (Superintendent, Bridgeport EVSD), and Morgan Holman (Wellness and Workforce Development Administrator, New Lexington School District). Don’t miss their insights during “Innovation in Appalachian District: Facilities That Unite” on November 17th!

Shea McMahon

As Vice President at SHP, Shea leads the firm’s business development initiatives and helps shape the strategic vision that drives SHP forward. Beyond guiding growth and direction, Shea is deeply committed to supporting clients through every phase of the project lifecycle; with a background in strategic planning and communications, Shea pairs his understanding of client needs with a genuine passion for service. What inspires Shea most is the opportunity to make a tangible difference—to help create environments that strengthen communities and positively impact the lives of children. Most recently, he has played a key role in Workforce 30, a community-driven initiative led by Washington State College of Ohio, which aims to shape the next 30 years of workforce development and economic growth across southeast Ohio.

Shea will be joined by Dan Leffingwell and Dr. Sarah Parker, President at Washington State College of Ohio, at the OSBA Capital Conference for a presentation entitled “Partnered Strategic Planning for our Community-Wide Learning Ecosystem.” They’ll be discussing how SHP and WSCO brought together learners and leaders from the area to create the north star for the community’s workforce supply and demand goals.
