Location: Franklin Furnace, Ohio

A new 92,512sf PK-12 school.
Academic spaces are separated into three sections: a PK-K wing, an elementary wing, and a middle/high school wing.
With a focus on visibility, each academic wing has a boulevard that connects to the heart of the building.
The common area includes the cafeteria and performance space with a stage, a designated podium area, a corresponding media/technology office overlooking the stage from the second floor and a ramp to make the stage ADA accessible.
The administrative suite includes a reception area, administrative offices, a conference room, private offices for health services and storage.

A New Identity for the Green Bobcats: Prior to designing the new building, SHP facilitated a rebranding process with the district to establish a unified brand. The process included working with a Brand Advisory Team to create the new brand based on the values and input of the community. The results included a brand guideline that informed the hundreds, if not thousands, of decisions about the look and feel of the building.

This new PK-12 school houses 525 students for Green Local Schools in Scioto County, Ohio. With attention to square footage efficiency, the building is designed with academic wings surrounding a centrally-located, all-group-type activities hub. This “heart of the building” includes the main entry, an administrative area, a common area that doubles as a cafeteria and performance space, and a gymnasium with locker rooms.
