Employee Spotlight: Brian Oldiges, Architect
Detail-Oriented, Determined, Empathetic, Helpful, Curious.
“If you’re going to do something, take the time to do it right.” This is a phrase that can often be heard around Brian Oldiges because he believes in giving it your all, or none at all, no matter the project.
An associate principal and architect at SHP, Brian is passionate about advancing design through research and cutting-edge technology. Known for his solutions-driven mindset, acute attention to detail, and client-centric approach, Brian has consistently delivered exceptional results. In his current role, he focuses on delivering innovative design solutions and building new client relationships in North Carolina, supporting SHP’s growth in the region.
Based in SHP’s Greensboro office, Brian is responsible for designing, producing, and coordinating construction documentation. Though he gets great satisfaction from these aspects of his job, what he loves most is that he is constantly learning on the job and becoming more expert at his craft every day.
Brian has worked with SHP since 2014 and, in that time, has developed an impressive resume, completing his Master’s of Architecture degree, obtaining his architectural license, becoming an LEED Green Associate, and graduating from the AIA Cincinnati VISION program. He has also led some of SHP’s most notable projects.
“Brian is one of the most professional and hardworking architects we have at the company,” said SHP President Jeffrey Sackenheim. “He is regularly helping other colleagues with their work while maintaining the quality of his own. He’s an excellent asset to our team.”
Brian enjoys woodworking, building and tinkering with computers, playing video games, and hiking in his free time.
“My “doodle” is woodworking that I’m teaching myself,” said Brian. “I’ve started to gather books on turning, joinery, wood species, and other aspects of the trade and experimenting with the tools I can manage to get my hands on.”
