SHP Expands in North Carolina with a New Greensboro Office

SHP is deepening its investment in the Greensboro, NC office in support of growing work in the state. SHP recently hired architect Scott Williams, a Greensboro native and Guilford County Schools alum, to help grow the office and is actively recruiting additional team members in architecture and interior design.

As part of the growth strategy, SHP has relocated its office to a new location at 111 Bain Street in Downtown Greensboro’s South End.

“As we have grown our work in North Carolina with clients like Guilford County Schools, it became clear that investing in a long-term presence in Greensboro was a critical next step,” said Shea McMahon, Vice President at SHP. “A natural part of that growth is adding team members who call Greensboro home. We are pleased to welcome Scott to SHP and look forward to expanded opportunities to share our expertise throughout the state.”

Williams is a Registered Architect with the NC Board of Architecture and will play a key role in advancing architectural design and building connections in the region. Williams received his Bachelor of Science in Architectural Technology and Design from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC and his Master of Architecture from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in Charlotte, NC.

SHP is currently engaged with Guilford County Schools to design the Peck K-8 Expeditionary Learning School. The project is part of the $300 million school bond approved in 2020. SHP is also approved to move forward in the design of projects for the district’s 2022 bond program which will address critical safety and maintenance needs and provide safer and healthier learning environments for Guilford County students.

“In our time working in Greensboro, we have found community, school and industry leaders passionately aligned with the values of our organization,” said David Powell, Architect and Project Manager for the Peck K-8 school project. “This community is investing in the future and is deeply committed to enhancing the lives of its citizens and its young people through access to education and advanced learning opportunities. I couldn’t think of a better place for SHP to grow than Greensboro, North Carolina.”

Founded in 1901 and headquartered in Cincinnati, SHP utilizes a rigorous design, research and advocacy platform to create thoughtful, creative and resilient solutions in a wide range of markets, including education, workplace, athletics, theme parks, community centers and libraries. In addition to Greensboro, SHP has offices in Columbus, Ohio and Bellevue, Kentucky.
