“You must be shapeless, formless, like water. When you pour water into a cup, it becomes the cup. When you pour water into a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Water can drip, and it can crash. Become like water, my friend.”

This famous Bruce Lee quote is one that many people have looked to for inspiration, including SHP’s own project manager and architect Josh Predovich. Josh prides himself on adapting to adverse situations and handling them calmly. This approach is what allows him to come up with creative answers to puzzling questions.

Josh has been with SHP for over 20 years and shows no sign of slowing down now. He has accomplished a great deal in this time, including five projects that have been recognized by design excellence awards from Learning by Design, School Planning and Management, and American School and University, the Columbus Dispatch and Columbus Business First.

“My first project out of grad school was the renovation of a commercial laundry into a video production facility,” said Josh. “The project had a $300-per-square-foot budget and was published in Architecture magazine. I thought this was the way all projects went! But seriously, each project is in its own way memorable, either for its process and/or its outcome.”

In his role at SHP, Josh’s daily responsibilities include managing client relationships, master planning and educational visioning. But what excites him most about his career is the impact his work has on students’ and educators’ lives. Creating projects that have a lasting effect on the communities we serve is what makes Josh get out of bed each morning.

“I hope I can look back at the end of my career and see that I made a lasting impact and change in communities throughout the state of Ohio and beyond,” said Josh. “I also hope I can say that I never stopped learning. Given all the world’s uncertainty today, I have been trying to focus on small things that I can create or control. I think the key is never to stop learning, researching, and experiencing.”

In his free time, Josh and his wife Gina like to golf, go to concerts and enjoy good food.

He especially likes to end his day with his cat Zora napping on his lap. Check out sweet Zora and a recent lighting design side-project doodle at right.
