Employee Spotlight: Dion Dwityabaswara, IT Manager

I am happy when they’re happy.

If there is a will there’s a way.” Willpower is a strong suit for Dion Dwityabaswara, SHP’s IT manager. His expertise and determination make him incredibly valuable to the SHP Team.

Dion is responsible for planning, directing and overseeing activities dealing with the company’s computer and information systems. The “always on” nature of his role — along with the constant stream of requests he receives from across the SHP team — can come with its unique challenges, but Dion does it all with a smile on his face.

“Basically, my job is to make sure everyone can be productive and enjoy doing so. I hope I am able to make other people’s lives a little bit easier every day. If I have done that, then I’ll consider it a job well done.”

To that end, he never seems to disappoint. Dion has a workhorse mentality that is constantly driving him to improve his work. Whether he is learning about new technological advancements, reading up on industry news or tinkering with new bits of code or equipment, he makes sure he is in the know, no matter what. And he isn’t afraid to stump salespeople or technicians with a new tech problem or error code — even if that’s what keeps him up at night.

As he looks back on his career, he hopes to have made an impact not only on SHP’s business, but on its people. When asked what five words he would use to describe himself, Dion, with typical humility, simply replied, “I am happy when they are happy!”

“I hope to say that I took advantage of the technology available to me, which is always evolving,” said Dion. “I want people to say that I passed down my knowledge and everything that I have learned to the next generation.”

When he isn’t hard at work, Dion challenges his mind in any way he can. Some of his recent pastimes include learning to play music and even writing a novel. But when it’s time to finally unwind, Dion chooses to spend time with family — including his son, pictured here — traveling, trying new eateries and building with Legos!
