The new Mt. Healthy Early Learning Center officially opened its doors to its first students in October 2021. Estimated to serve 230 pre-school and kindergarten students across southwestern Ohio, the long-awaited, culturally inclusive learning center revolves around responsiveness, instruction, and equitable practices—three priorities that come to life beautifully in the design.
The center is a significant step forward in a years-long process to better prepare the community’s young learners, who are routinely underprepared for elementary school. It includes an innovative prototype classroom originated by SHP’s PK-12 Education Studio, which features a pair of classrooms with shared access to an atelier (a private workshop/studio) and convertible indoor/outdoor spaces that can serve multiple educational, curricular and pedagogical purposes.
