SHP, a leading architecture, interior design and engineering firm, has officially moved its headquarters to a new location in downtown Cincinnati.

SHP signed a lease for the 22,400 square feet space spanning the top two floors of the historic building at 311 Elm St. earlier this year, reinforcing the firm’s commitment to maintaining its headquarters within the City of Cincinnati. Construction was completed earlier this month, and employees officially moved into the new location on Nov. 24.

“As architects and designers, we are fueled by aligning the cultural and business cases that a well-designed space can provide,” said Jeffrey Sackenheim, CEO of SHP. “We wanted the space to feel like a big hug–a place where our employees will feel supported and empowered. The space was designed to foster creativity and collaboration, to bring people together in ways that help us do our best work. As we continue to grow and the nature of our work continues to evolve, this move gives us the room and the energy to keep pushing forward and building something truly special.”

The new space is significantly larger than SHP’s previous office located at 312 Plum St., and features several large conference and training rooms, studio-like pin-up areas, a dedicated model fabrication shop, a variety of informal huddle areas, and an open, warm atmosphere lit by a two-floor atrium skylight. Designed to support future growth, the expanded footprint will allow SHP to welcome additional talent and continue strengthening its capabilities.

Sackenheim said that the historic character of the building, including the original hardwood floors, heavy timber and exposed brick, was a major draw for SHP’s team.

“In addition to all of the spaces and technology that will enhance collaboration, we’re injecting elements of joy and decompression throughout the space,” he said. “This includes original artwork, hundreds of plants (including a room that is entirely enclosed by plants) and a curated display of some of the firm’s earliest works dating back to 1901. Our team is particularly excited for the ‘rec room’, complete with a 75-year-old ping pong table, record player, and stacks of vinyl.”

The new headquarters is the third major move for SHP this year, after the firm’s Columbus and Greensboro, N.C. offices expanded to new locations in March and February, respectively.
