Wyoming City Schools: Dan Jones Center for Research and Innovation

Project Description

SHP was asked to reimagine an existing library space at Wyoming High School into a multi-modal innovation center that supports cross-disciplinary learning, student brainstorming, invention, research, creation and presentation. The design concept was created from the Wyoming City Schools leadership’s vision with input from an interdisciplinary group of educators. The vision and design have resulted in the development of the Dan Jones Center for Research & Innovation.

Project Features

  • The research center provides Wyoming students with options for approaching STREAM and helps prepare older students for college and professional careers.
  • The design offers brainstorming zones, technology space, a fabrication lab, audio/visual labs, a gathering area for three to sixteen people, dense stack space and a
    formal presentation room.
  • A presentation/gathering space was created from an under-used Rotunda area.
  • A forward-thinking space for all students to be used for capstone projects.
  • The award-winning space was honored with a 2021 American School and University Magazine Educational Interiors Showcase Silver Citation.
