Educational Visioning with a group representing multiple stakeholders within the District to develop master plan options and further engagement opportunities for the community.
Review of the district's facility assessment.
In-depth community engagement and concept testing with stakeholder groups.
Strategic planning for master facility planning development.
Development of a future vision for the district’s schools and support buildings.

THE OUTCOME: Each school building produced from the master plan provides thematic similarities in educational spaces, building materials and technology which supports individualized education, eases grade-level transitions and provides a sense of familiarity and connection for students.

Master Planning|Visioning|Stakeholder Engagement

With a focus on how to best prepare their learners for the future, Sycamore Community Schools partnered with SHP to develop a facilities master plan. Informed by enrollment projections, facility assessments and operational realities, the final master plan anticipated the emerging educational needs of Sycamore students and staff. Facilities must be practical, serviceable and fiscally responsible, but they must also support the instruction of the skills their students require—a pedagogy that embraces the uniqueness of each learner and equips them for success.

The resulting facilities include the phased renovation of the high school, a new junior high, a new intermediate, and the renovation/addition to an elementary school.
