Milan Branch Library
Client: Osgood Public Library
Location: Milan, Indiana
  • A 2,700sf main reading area, a workroom, a break room and storage.
  • A multi-purpose community room for meetings and presentations offers complete AV systems and a small kitchenette.
  • A glass wall opens the multi-purpose room to communicate with and support the main reading area during the day.
  • Direct access to the multi-purpose room during the evening permits community use when the library is closed.
Interesting Fact: Geothermal, daylight harnessing (achieved through building orientation and appropriate glazing locations), and lighting controls create sustainable operational efficiencies for the library.

The star of this new, 5,200sf branch library is its multi-purpose community room. An operable glass wall opens the room to the 2,700sf main reading area beyond, but can be efficiently closed for presentations. Direct access permits community use during evening hours, when the library is otherwise closed.
