Fairborn Intermediate School
Client: Fairborn City Schools
Location: Fairborn, Ohio
  • New 103,164sf 3-5 intermediate school.
  • A variety of classroom types, four flex learning spaces per classroom wing, art and music rooms, a media center and a gymnasium that also serves as a tornado shelter.
  • The design specifically considers the district's school day schedule and use of the shared spaces.
  • A phased construction plan was required as the facility was built on an occupied school site.
Interesting Fact: A carefully created alternate plan enabled the district to successfully bid the project under budget while also attaining prioritized “wants” within the quickly changing construction bidding market. This process of additive design was successful in delivering on the district's expectations while respecting project budgetary constraints.
