Artspace Hamilton offers a combination of studio, one-bedroom and three-bedroom apartments. All tenants also have access to gallery, studio and retail space.
Artspace encourages artists to take advantage of its gallery and retail space in order to advance the artists’ careers.
The design restores the century-old edifices to their original appearance, a 1900 French Renaissance and a 1913 Lindley Block.

Project Description

Artspace challenged SHP with a 72,000 square foot renovation of two historic (1900 and 1913) buildings in downtown Hamilton, Ohio. Artspace’s mission is to create, foster and preserve affordable space for artists and arts organizations. SHP honored their mission by designing and constructing 42 artist live/work units that are affordable, functional and efficient.

  • Community gallery space, studio space as well as four storefront/retail space on the 3,000 sf ground floor.
  • Restored original wood floors and trim, tin ceilings, plaster walls, and brick and stone foundations on the lower level.
