Steve Kenat

Principal, Director of Community Development

An experienced architect and designer, community developer and relationship builder, Steve is adept at designing and driving projects that are difference-makers to the economic vibrancy, societal health and authenticity of urban communities.

Having worked in Cincinnati’s urban neighborhoods most of his career, Steve’s fingerprints can be found all over town: from 1010-on-the-Rhine building, Cincinnati Shakespeare Company and Cincinnati Union Terminal, to the Ronald McDonald House, United Way and Willkommen, for instance. But it’s his passion for projects that are transformational—whether that’s through policies and initiatives that create systemic change or using great design to increase social equity and create vibrant neighborhoods—that really sets Steve apart.

“My personal and professional approach is mirrored in SHP’s ethos: Simply Helping People. I’ve built my career around this servant leadership mindset, and it feels good to go to work every day at a firm that believes—and behaves—in the same way.”
