Strengthening a Community: Designing The Boys & Girls Club of West Chester/Liberty
The Boys & Girls Club of West Chester/Liberty (BGCWCL) has become a cornerstone organization in the region. This deeply gratifying project allowed SHP to aid children whose homes are not always available or safe, a place to go directly after school where they can learn, socialize and flourish.
In early 2012, members of the Community Foundation of West Chester/Liberty recognized the need for a Boys & Girls Club to enable its school-aged children, approximately 20% of whom qualify for free or reduced lunch programs, to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens. Today, through the work of the BGCWCL, all children have the opportunity to learn and grow outside of a traditional classroom setting.
Our latest case study, Strengthening a Community: Designing The Boys & Girls Club of West Chester/Liberty, reflects on how the work of what started as a small crew of passionate volunteers has grown into a premier organization and world-class facility for the children of the Lakota Local School District.
