The Keys to Successful Master Planning
Aligning Leadership, Data & Community for Real Results
School master planning is one of the most complex challenges a school district can take on. A year or more of planning, analysis, and community engagement…and yet, many districts still fall short when it matters most: at the ballot box.
Three reasons for failure tend to follow familiar patterns: community skepticism, misalignment between district leadership and voters, and fragmented communication that leaves people more confused than convinced. However, all of these challenges can be addressed and overcome with the right data and preparation.
In our new executive brief, we dig into why so many master planning efforts come up short—and what the ones that succeed actually do differently. Through our recent work with Kings Local School District, we’ve identified the six factors we believe are most critical to success, as well as the broader lessons any district can apply, regardless of size, timeline, or where they’re starting from.
