Employee Spotlight: Ryan O’Callaghan, Project Designer

Outgoing, Diligent, Dedicated, Versatile, Approachable

Like many of us at SHP, Ryan O’Callaghan is a student of life at heart. “There is always something new to learn,” he says. For Ryan, learning is also about taking risks. In the words of hockey great Wayne Gretsky: “You miss 100% of the shots you never take.” It’s a philosophy that motivates Ryan on and off the ice.

Ryan made a big shot in his career when he transitioned from his Architect Co-op experience into a full-time role at SHP, and we’re so glad to have him on our team. As a Project Designer, he collaborates with the design team to assist in building modeling and project documentation. He is also one of SHP’s drone-certified pilots, capturing aerial imagery and site data that give clients a clearer understanding of existing conditions and project progress. By bringing a new perspective from above, Ryan helps teams make informed decisions early and often.

Ryan graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 2023 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Engineering. Just like Gretsky, Ryan enjoys playing ice hockey in his spare time. He also loves to snowboard, golf and hang out with his family and friends.

“There is always something new to learn.”

Although he’s just starting out in his career, Ryan is focused on his long-term goals. “In 30 years, I hope that I will continue to pursue knowledge and keep learning. In architecture and construction, there is always something new to learn. I hope that I can make contributions with a lasting benefit to the surrounding community that make someone’s life better.”
