Employee Spotlight: Shea McMahon, Vice President
Energetic, Passionate, Driven, Versatile
Shea McMahon approaches life—both personally and professionally—under the belief that everything should be done with conscientiousness and demonstrated diligence. It’s a mindset that shows up in everything he does, from how he leads projects to how deeply he cares about the communities SHP serves.
As a Principal-in-Charge and Vice President, Shea plays a key role within the firm, particularly in the education space. In addition to guiding the firmwide strategic initiatives, Shea takes the lead on a handful of complex strategic projects for clients each year, including master strategic planning and building programs, and works closely with clients to ensure their voices are heard at every stage of the process. Shea is often the bridge between vision and execution —representing SHP, advocating for client needs, and helping to identify and shape solutions that truly work for students, educators, and communities. In addition to leading projects, Shea continues to drive SHP’s business development efforts and chart the firm’s path forward.
“Shea is a driven leader who truly cares about each project he works on,” said SHP President Jeffrey Sackenheim. “He makes our company go. I’m incredibly thankful to have him on our team.”
While Shea enjoys many aspects of his job, what excites him most is having the opportunity to improve communities and significantly impact children’s lives–work that has become even more personal since becoming a parent.
When his career eventually comes to a close, Shea hopes he’ll be remembered as someone who showed up, cared deeply, and left his community better than he found it.
In his free time, Shea loves to spend time with his wife and three children and reminds himself to never take a single moment with them for granted.
“The word ‘halcyon’ continues to pop into my head, watching my kids grow up. It means a moment in time that was idyllic, peaceful, and happy,” he says. “I remind myself daily that I’m living in the ‘halcyon’ days with my family.”
