Employee Spotlight: Ben Punturi, Architect

If we had to guess, Ben Punturi’s childhood report cards likely praised the fact that he “works well with others.” It’s the same kind of energy he brings to his job at SHP every day.

It’s a good thing Ben enjoys working with others and being part of a team—his role as an architect in our Columbus Office demands regular collaboration to develop innovative solutions to complex design problems. But it’s also something he’s good at; his keen ability to listen critically and identify the needs of his clients and end users is uniquely suited to an architectural setting. Day to day, you’ll find him producing design documents and graphics for clients and meeting with owners, consultants, and other stakeholders to ensure that project needs are being met.

It’s a lot of work, but the results that come from working as a team are worth it, he says.

“There’s value in asking for help and being open to help,” Ben says. “Anyone can create something alone, but the things created together through collaboration, input, opinions, and values produce truly wonderful outcomes.”

Collaboration fuels much of Ben’s creative energy, but he also finds inspiration in “anything architectural.” That’s not surprising: He holds a master’s degree in architecture from Kent State University and was a member of the architectural fraternity Alpha Rho Chi during his academic career. He loves going to museums and libraries and reading the latest architectural trends; he also draws inspiration from everyday life, where anything can happen, and “spark your creative side,” he says.

Outside of work, you can find Ben spending time with his family, working on his house and garden, and soaking up the great outdoors, as well as keeping an eye on his future in the industry.
