Employee Spotlight: Russell Miller, Senior Project Manager

Hardworking, diligent, collaborative.

After nearly 16 years with SHP, Russell Miller has established himself as one of the most reliable and driven architects in the firm. He provides energy, leadership and experience to every project he works on, making him one of our top project managers today.

Russell’s role often changes from day to day based on the project’s lead and complexity. On smaller projects, he interacts with nearly everyone involved, from the owner to project designers. In comparison, larger projects allow him projects give him the chance to focus on coordinating the design and project-specific technical requirements.

“I enjoy our role in designing and helping deliver a final project that not only meets and exceeds the needs, wants, and desires of our clients but also creates places that have a positive impact on the lives of the people who experience them,” said Russell.

Before rising to his current role as senior project manager, Russell was responsible for millions of dollars in complex, educational projects as a project architect. He has been in the industry for over 25 years and has been a part of some very special projects, both with and without SHP. Technically, this is the second time Russell has been a part of the SHP team. He was first hired over a decade ago, and worked with us for a significant amount of time before parting ways, only to find his way back a few years later.

“I take great satisfaction in our projects that, while sometimes not as glamorous, have an incredible impact on their users and the communities they are a part of.”
– Russell Miller

Russell’s wide range of experience designing educational facilities gives him an understanding of what it takes to deliver a successful project from start to finish. “Early in my career, I was fortunate to be able to contribute to several high-profile projects. I am proud of those projects to this day, but the years of experience I now have bring a different perspective,” says Russell.

At the end of his career, Russell hopes he can look back and see that he worked hard with and for those around him, that he impacted the projects he has been involved with and that most importantly, those projects contributed to the community as a whole.

In his free time, Russell can be found being outside, spending time with his daughter and working on projects around the house.
