Employee Spotlight: Kinsey Kaufman, Senior Interior Designer

Hardworking, Determined, Open-minded, Self-critical, Organized.

“Good design should be a right, not a privilege.” This quote drives Kinsey Kaufman every day. As a senior interior designer, she believes that everyone deserves a space where they can grow and be known, and works to make that dream a reality for the people in her community.

“Kinsey is an extremely devoted and determined worker, so much so that some may even call her stubborn,” said former SHP President Lauren Della Bella. “But that’s exactly what we love about her. She knows what she wants out of a project and won’t stop until the job is done.”

Kinsey has been an interior designer for over five years and is responsible for a variety of elements for any given project. Ultimately, she solves design problems for SHP clients. Depending on the day, that might mean anything from planning functional spaces within a building footprint to coordinating the architectural elements with all other disciplines involved. Her job boils down to communicating the clients’ needs and solving problems with the team in ways that create the best spaces for the end-user. Kinsey is NCIDQ-certified (National Council for Interior Design Qualification) and is an IIDA member (International Interior Design Association).

“I love that the projects I create really impact their surrounding communities for generations to come,” said Kinsey. “I get to bring a student, educator, and administrator’s vision to life in spaces where kids will be able to learn and grow. To me, having that purpose in the work I do matters – that’s what fuels me.”

Kinsey is a passionate leader who only wants what is best for her clients as well as her team members. When she looks back on her career, she hopes to see that through her work, she will have made coworkers and clients alike feel understood and valued through all her interactions. She also wants to know that the work she has done will have been selfless and high-quality work.

When some much-deserved rest & relaxation are in order, Kinsey Kaufman chooses to create an outdoor adventure with her loved ones. Whether it’s running the sidewalks of the city or going camping, she loves to connect with her people.

A weekend away to celebrate joy and friendship would not be complete for Kinsey and crew without some sort of adventure — “like jumping into a pool fully clothed,” she shared.
