New Principals Join SHP’s Leadership Team
We are delighted to announce the following promotions of five individuals at SHP:
- David Powell – Principal
- Jacob Faiola – Principal
- Brian Oldiges – Associate Principal
- Kyle Miller – Associate Principal
- Tom Poff – Associate Principal
These promotions reflect their exceptional contributions and SHP’s unwavering commitment to architecture, design and engineering as core services within our firm. David, Jacob, Brian, Kyle and Tom will join the following SHP shareholders as members of the firm’s senior leadership team: Brandi Ash, Jenny Gallow, Vern Hendrickson, Charlie Jahnigen, Carrie Malatesta, Allison McKenzie, Shea McMahon, Jeffrey Sackenheim, Joanne Peters and Todd Thackery.

More about David
David Powell, AIA, LEED AP, known for his creativity and ability to manage large complex teams, joined SHP three years ago. He hit the ground running making an immediate impact due to his 30 years in the profession working on projects both domestically and internationally. David enjoys working on education projects that recognize the change in how children are learning. “If my work can help a student learn more effectively, I have done my job well,” said Powell. In his new role, he will continue to provide guidance and leadership in the North Carolina office and bring forward best practices, project management rigor and innovative solutions.
More about Jacob
Jacob Faiola, PE, LEED Green Associate, known for his creativity and ability to problem-solve, leads our mechanical, electrical and plumbing team as the director of engineering with the goal of “finding creative solutions to produce building designs that perfectly balance conflicting criteria.” In his new role, he will continue to oversee the engineering team and become a critical piece in growing our portfolio of engineering-focused projects. Jacob has been with the firm for over eight years and has been a practicing mechanical engineer for over twelve. In addition, he is an active member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers.

Brian Oldiges, AIA, NCARB, LEED Green Associate, has been with SHP since 2014. He is passionate about advancing design through research and cutting-edge technology. Known for his solutions-driven mindset, acute attention to detail and client-centric approach, Brian has consistently delivered exceptional results. In his new role, he will continue to focus on delivering innovative design solutions and building new client relationships in North Carolina, supporting SHP’s growth in that region.
More about Kyle
Kyle Miller, AIA, NCARB, joined SHP in 2020 and has over 14 years of experience as an architect. Kyle is known for his dedication to excellence and ability to implement big strategic goals. As the director of our Columbus office, he is responsible for ensuring technically-sound documents are delivered on time and within budget. In his new role, Kyle will continue to deliver high-quality, innovative design solutions and serve as a mentor for emerging architects, fostering their professional growth and contributing to the firm’s overall success.
More about Tom
Tom Poff joined SHP in 2016 and has over 38 years of experience as an electrical designer. Tom is passionate about teaching newcomers the craft of electrical design. Tom’s experience spans everything from amusement parks and learning environments to banks and retail environments. Tom is known for his mentorship abilities and client-focused approach. In his new role, he will continue to lead the electrical practice for the firm and become more involved in developing key relationships with clients and prospects ensuring continued growth of our engineering service sector.
