Innovative Solutions to Over Capacity at Lockland Educational Annex
Before Lockland Local Schools (Cincinnati, Ohio) could officially renovate the main building on its only school campus, it had a capacity problem to solve. The district needed to create space it didn’t have, with a minimal budget, to serve as temporary classrooms for a couple of hundred students, so that construction could take place.
The solution to over capacity revealed itself in an old, abandoned church just down the street. Transforming this space into an educational annex took innovation, creativity, and collaboration between SHP, the school district and The Village of Lockland. The result is a new community space that pays homage to the building’s past, designed to serve children and their families for generations to come.
