SHP Welcomes Two New Members to Our Education Studio: David Powell and Annie Morman

SHP is thrilled to share we have added two new members to the Education studio in our Columbus office: David Powell and Annie Morman.

David Powell, AIA, LEED AP, joins Team SHP as a senior project manager/project architect. With his deep experience in the K-12 market both nationally and internationally, we are confident he will bring another level of vision and leadership to the firm’s PK-12 Education studio.

David graduated from Ohio State University in 1990 with a BS in architecture and earned his master’s degree from Miami University in 1995. Most of his time since then has been spent in Chicago, where he worked for several well-known firms, including Perkins & Will, Cannon Design and Wight & Company. Most recently, David served as the Project Director for Whittle School and Studios in New York City.

“Although I have lived and worked in Chicago for most of my career, I was born and raised in Columbus, attended Ohio State, and on football Saturdays, I’m known to spend quality time shouting at the television and explaining to my children why that’s necessary,” says David. “I am thrilled with this opportunity, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.”

Annie officially joined the team as an interior designer as of mid-January 2021. A Magna Cum Laude graduate of Miami University in 2020, she graduated with a BFA in interior design. She also has a special interest in how psychology, disability studies, health/wellness and culture can overlap with her design work. A WELL Accredited Professional, Annie’s internship experience includes working on K-12 projects with VSWC Architects in Mason, Ohio.

“Outside of work, my personal relationships with friends and family is mainly what fills me up,” she says. “Otherwise, spending time outdoors hiking and traveling or getting crafty with painting or small woodworking projects.”
